A Special Project!

I was recently asked to participate in a special project by my friends John & Stacy Lynch of Cripple Creek Barbeque who are trying to grow their small business. They are currently trying to raise funds through Kickstarter and were looking to have custom limited edition labels created for each of their four barbeque sauces. They contacted four of their artist/designer friends to help out and I was honored to be included. As a small business owner myself, I think it is important to help your friends and neighbors achieve their goals too. This is the label I designed for the project.

Cripple Creek Barbeque has four sauces—Original, Chipotle, Roasted Garlic and Caramelized Onion. Each artist/designer created a label for a different sauce. The custom labels are going to be used as a reward for anyone who pledges $85 to Cripple Creek Barbeque through the Kickstarter program. So if you pledge $85 to help this small business grow, they are going to send you all four of their excellent barbeque sauces with the limited edition labels.

Participants also included Tricia-rennea Wilson (Original sauce label), Dean T. Hamilton (Chipotle sauce label) and Shannon Rene' Justice (Roasted Garlic sauce label). Below is a compilation of all the labels that were created for this project. A cool collection of different styles! And if you like their styles, click on their names and you'll be taken to their shops! They are all small business owners too and I love that we all came together to help another small business. Now this is how the world should work! Click on the image to see it larger.

What I love about Cripple Creek Barbeque (besides the fact that it is owned by my friends) is that they really care about people, the environment and doing the right thing while still making quality barbeque sauces and rubs that are affordable.

Chef John Lynch, in a quest to create foods that aren’t full of sugars, artificial flavors and chemicals, first created the spice combination that gives Cripple Creek Barbeque its distinct flavor. That combination became the base of the sauces—blended with other all natural ingredients their sauces are rich, deep and full of flavor and contain NO High Fructose Corn Syrup. John & Stacy Lynch also have a strong belief in sustainability and environmental awareness so Cripple Creek Barbeque uses materials that are 100% recycled or recyclable. Currently they are working on a new honey barbeque sauce flavor where all proceeds will be going to a non-profit organization. That's pretty amazing!

Cripple Creek Barbeque is trying to get $7,500 in pledges through Kickstarter by Friday Dec 10, 11:19pm EST to help them fund their business. They will use the money to purchase bottles, lids, labels, ingredients and advertising. If they don't get at least $7,500 in pledges by that date, the project will not be funded and  they will not receive anything. Pledge levels start at $5 and go up to $500 or more. For the mere cost of a cup of coffee, you could help a small company with a big conscience reach their goal. Besides helping a small business grow, depending upon your pledge level, you'll get some fabulous and tasty rewards:

  • Pledge $5 or more and you'll get a personal thank you email and a mention on Cripple Creek Barbeque's website and Facebook page.
  • Pledge $20 or more and you'll get a personal recipe developed by John for your tastes and a mention Cripple Creek Barbeque's website and Facebook page.
  • Pledge $50 or more and you'll get the Cripple Creek Barbeque Gift Set consisting of the choice of 2 sauces, a rub, basting brush and menu ideas.
  • Pledge $85 or more and you'll receive all four Cripple Creek Barbeque sauces with the limited edition labels as seen above. The set will be numbered. This is a special pledge level and limited reward with only 12 sets available.
  • Pledge $100 or more and get all of the rewards mentioned (except the four sauces with the limited edition labels) plus a Cripple Creek Barbeque t-shirt.
  • Pledge $150 or more and get all of the rewards mentioned (except the four sauces with the limited edition labels) plus an entire meal's menu written by John with recipes and wine or beer parings.
  • Pledge $200 or more and get all four sauces, rub and a Cripple Creek Barbeque t-shirt.
  • Pledge $500 or more and John will personally come and cater a party for you and 15 of your nearest and dearest. *Limited to Mountain time Zone.

You can visit Cripple Creek Barbeque's official website, Facebook page and follow them on Twitter. And don't forget to stop by their page on Kickstarter and make a pledge! And if you can't help financially, help spread the word by posting about them on your blogs, websites, Facebook and Twitter. Please support small businesses!

I'd love to hear what you think about my label design for this very special project, please leave me a comment if you are so inclined! Thanks for stopping by.
